They produce a rich, resonant sound when struck or when a wooden mallet is rubbed along their rim, creating continuous vibrations often described as a “singing” tone.

Origin and History

Singing bowls are believed to have originated in the Himalayan regions, including Tibet, Nepal, and India, over 2,000 years ago. They were traditionally used by Buddhist monks during meditation, rituals, and spiritual ceremonies. Today, they are widely used across the world in yoga, sound therapy, and mindfulness practices.

Material and Design

Most traditional singing bowls are made from a mixture of metals such as copper, tin, iron, silver, gold, and others, symbolizing planetary influences. Modern bowls may also be made from crystal (quartz). They come in different sizes and shapes, each producing a unique tone and vibration.
